Denis Manturov, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Participated at BIO International Convention 2011 in Washington, DC The delegation of Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation headed by Denis Valentinovich Manturov took part in the largest international biotechnology Convention (BIO 2011) A year of 2011 was especially important for the Russian pharmaceutical industry since a new federal “Program of the Development of the Pharmaceutical and Medical Industry of the Russian Federation until 2020 and beyond” was launched. This program became one of the main tools for technological and investment development of the domestic biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry. The program provides measures to support international cooperation, such as co-financing of modern medicines production and development of innovative drugs in collaboration with international pharmaceutical companies"- Denis Manturov said at the opening of the Russian pavilion. For the first time in the history of the forum and with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Russia had a Pavilion and was represented by high level official delegation. The delegation consisted of both representatives of the government institutions (RUSNANO, Skolkovo Foundation, Russian Venture Company) and those representatives of the leading Russian companies working in the pharmaceutical field (R-Pharm, ChemRar Hight Tech Center, Pharmstandard, Biopharmcluster “Nothern”). Denis Manturov also visited the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, where he met with specialists working in the innovative areas of ??"living systems" on the basis of university clusters. In addition, during the forum, Deputy Minister held number of meetings with leaders of major international pharmaceutical companies such as Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson, Eli Lilly, Abbott, Merck (USA), Genzyme, Amgen.
