Iterative and directed chemical modifications are made to further improve the drug like characteristics of the lead candidates to determine if they will meet criteria to be suitable for testing in animal models of the disease and eventual testing in human subjects. ChemDiv has broad experience in many animal models, will undertake pilot safety and toxicology studies, explore the pharmacokinetics (PK), absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion (ADME) and carry on all of the studies to qualify a drug lead as a candidate for further development. Close cooperation under the leadership of an experienced Program Leader will drive the project team to meet or exceed the client's expectations. The new candidates are benchmarked against competitor drugs to demonstrate their superiority.
